Sibane Fields is a collection of farming land in the rural community of Cacadu (formerly Lady Frere) in the Eastern Cape.
The local town, Lady Frere was named after the wife of; Sir Henry Bartle Frere, the then Governor of the Cape. Lady Frere serves as the centre for the Glen Grey farming district.
Sibane means light in isiXhosa. The name was chosen as the initial farming activity was in memory of one of the four sons (an avid farmer and shop owner) of Mr Jackson Dyebo Mfenyana (uBhele); an active community member and leader, shop owner and farmer himself who for many years sat kwiBhunga (local Counsel).
Sibane Field’s aims to revive and redevelop what was once a highly economically active farming community that both Jackson and Sibane contributed to, in their private capacity and in professional roles.
Sibane Fields mainly offers crop supplies and organically processed agricultural items.
